Hyperammonaemia is a state in which blood ammonia levels get dangerously high. This can cause seizures, brain damage, disability and death if not recognised and treated early.
Through our remit of supporting individuals living with Inherited Metabolic Disorders, we offer assistance to a number of communities at risk of hyperammonaemia. Due to this position we have received received reports dating back a number of years regarding patients who have experienced serious adverse events including disability and death due to hyperammonaemia not being diagnosed and treated quickly enough.
The “Think Ammonia!” campaign from Metabolic Support UK aims to improve outcomes for individuals experiencing hyperammonaemia. Click the button below to visit the “Think Ammonia!” campaign page to access information, actions, stories and resources on hyperammonaemia.
