Rhiannon: My experience of volunteering for MSUK

Ever wondered what volunteering for Metabolic Support UK is like? Read about Rhiannon's experience:

Rhiannon joined us earlier this year as a volunteer alongside her university studies. Passionate about her biology studies, Rhiannon was looking for a way to learn some valuable skills and knowledge, whilst striving to have a positive impact on our community.

We’ll let Rhiannon tell you more about her short time with us:

“Throughout my time volunteering for Metabolic Support UK I have had the opportunity to work on many interesting projects and learn lots of new things. The main projects I focused on was the development of informative documents regarding paediatric and adult liver transplants, the use of feeding tubes and the fitting and use of portacaths.

I also had the chance to meet some of the community living with inherited metabolic disorders in a biweekly ‘coffee lounge’ held via zoom. Everyone on these calls were so welcoming and answered any questions I had about their experience with a metabolic disorder. I am truly grateful for this experience with Metabolic Support UK and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the future!”

Thank you, Rhiannon, for sharing your time with us, and to everyone in the community who helped make her feel welcome.
